Good evening,

I am new in this forum and as coleopterist, I am keen to learn more about the diptera as I do not know anything.

Hope you can help and direct me to the right documentation to Id the beast.

This one was caught by night in a night trap in my Garden in Belgium in July.

Thanks for your help

There is Fauna Entomologica Scandinavica volume 40 by Chvala, and Part 3 of Collin's "British Flies" volume on Empididae, both of which deal with Hilara.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
