Polistes biglumis ?

Hello, I observed this Polistes the 4th of June in the north of France. I think of a Polistes biglumis but I don't know the criteria to distinguish it from other species ? Cordially Maxime |

Bonjour Maxime, I think you are right with P. biglumis: - Malar (cheek - between eye and mandible) black - Mandible with yellow spot (hard to see, but it is) - Flagellum dorsally black, ventrally yellow/orange - Clypeus with black, horizontal bar - Mesoscutum pubescent Regards, Eric Edited by eklans on 08-06-2020 10:10 |

I think, P. nimpha could be possible, too. The most obvious difference to biglumis is the yellow malar space. Eric |
