I am in no way expert or specialist, but here is what I have picked up so far: Whether it is Thaumatomyia or Chlorops is best told from how flat the scutellum is - hard to say from this photo. To recognize T. notata you need a profile where the width of the "chin" (the area below the eye) relative to the eye size is possible to judge. Not visible here. Karsten |
