Hello,

today it was sunny here in northwest Germany, but only 7-9 °C with a cold wind. Nevertheless on a beech trunk at the forest border this Gymnoch(a)eta viridis was sunbathing. Is it a male (as I suppose)?

(Also many Bombylius major on the wing.)

Amazing how this species can obtain almost every colour of soap bubbles... I am layman regarding Tachinidae, but that said, I would agree with you regarding the sex (oh, I realise Theo already confirmed!).
