October 21st i took a picture of this very small - 3 or 4 mm - spider which I found in low foliage near a pond in my garden.
Could anyone help me to identify it?
Thank you in advance, Niek

Hello, Niek!

Not 100% sure (but 98%), but this seems to be is a male Linyphiid of species Linyphia hortensis (most likely; subadult, adult in spring) or probably Neriene clathrata. Both species have males of this habitus and colouration, with white markings at the front of the opisthosoma (abdomen).

(Scroll down for the males - the ones with the large pedipalps.)

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
