I found this mosquito close to at Zanderij airport Suriname. It was resting on the leaves of some lower plants. I think it also was territorial because when I came back 17 days later it was still there on the same plant.

Toxorhynchites, recognizable by the curved proboscis that gives the genus its name. They do not bite. |
