Could this fly be a female of Chaetostomella cylindrica?
Im not sure if it's possible to rule out Chaetorellia jaceae...

Chaetostomella cylindrica is correct.
Chaetorellia jaceae has presutural dorsocentrals, Chaetostomella cylindrica has not.

Hi Ben

I've missed that you had answered me here!

Thanks for that, and for the good explanation.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
