Hello, In a previous post, the Syrphus femur III was not visible enough to determine the species. Here, we can see better the femur III and the distribution of the black color. Is this sufficient for the species? Liliane D attached the following image: [263.62Kb] Edited by Liliane D on 12-11-2019 01:32 |

Hello Liliane, Liliane D wrote: Here, we can see better the femur III and the distribution of the black color. Is this sufficient for the species? we can rule out Syrphus ribesii here, because the femur is partly black. Unfortunately we can not see, if the eyes are hairy. So it can be S. torvus (hairy) or vitripennis (not hairy). My impression goes more to S. vitripennis, but I am no expert, and that is no identification!
