Berlin - September 2019 - 12mm male

I think that this is Cylindromyia bicolor but i want to be certain of this id. I didn't key it yet because i'm too tired today. I have auriceps and brassicaria which look different.

Best wishes,
John

Totally correct.

They are heading north in a very rapid pace. Publication forthcoming in Nederlandse Faunistische Mededelingen.

Thank you, Theo. I didn't think that they were in Berlin, so i am surprised to see this here. I look forward to reading your publication. Very interesting, indeed!

Best wishes,
John

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
