From my garden, this time with genital dissection. Can B. bayeri be confirmed? There is at least a small dark spot visible at the top of the parafacialia.

All requests are from the urban area of Vienna, if not otherwise stated.

My Diptera observations (and other living forms) can be found here, and corrections or comments over there would also be appreciated.

Hello Lorin.

the aedeagus doesn't match B. bayeri.
B. viarum is a better match.

Best wishes,
John

Yes, I can see that.
Anyways I will try to get better images of the aedeagus.
Thanks!
Cheers, Lorin

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
