another fly from the light in our garden (northwest Germany). Only about 3.5-4 mm.

I agree with Jan. The leg chaetotaxy doesn't fit any Muscidae that i am familiar with. I can't see the a2 vein either. I also vote for a Fannia female.
John and Nini. Naturalists not experts.
currently injured. healing from surgery.

Yup, you can view the wing from above (dorsal side) and from beneath (ventral side).
