Dear Dipterans, on 02.05.2019 I found a black fly with smoky wings on moss covering a dead beech tree in the forest. I encountered it at night. Here are the pictures I took: I would really appreciate it if you would help me with identification, so far I was unsuccessful to find a matching species. More probably S. mehadiae.(genae are wide). A control question - is it about as large a a housefly? If so, it must be S. mehadiae, as S. nigrithorax is much smaller. |
