Edit: Just found out that fauna-eu is out of date regarding that genus. In a 2018 publication, E. notata was described from Lower Austria. I have a male, so what are the distinguishing features here? Member Location: Massachusetts, USA Posts: 9845 Joined: 22.10.10	I think Euxesta pechumani is correct. The dark crossband is supposed to be shorter in E. notata.

Member Location: Posts: 3404 Joined: 28.12.07	I do agree with John, it is pechumani, Males, however, have some variation of the wing pattern, and we have both pechumani and notata throughout Central Europe. Females of E. notata clearly differ in the golden yellow tergite 5 (whereas in pechumani it is dark brown and greenish subshining) Val

That would mean I found a new species for Austria in my garden :-) Female would have been easy, how do the males differ? Here another photo, not in situ this time... Member Location: Massachusetts, USA Posts: 9845 Joined: 22.10.10	According to the original description, the dark spot closer to the base of the wing is larger in Euxesta pechumani than in E. notata. In the northeastern United States E. notata is common. I have never seen E. pechumani and photos are much less common. In Europe the ratio seems to be more even.
