Hi everyone, I would like the know the species name of this chironomidae. It was caught at Marker Wadden (Netherlands) which is an artificially made island archipelago. There was no vegetation growing and the habitat is sandy. It was caught in May 2018. When I determined it with the Handbook for identification of british insects I ended up with Phaenopsectra punctipes. Could this be correct? Really appreciate the help! Hope the picture is a bit clear, needed to edit it for uploading, if not I will try to make a better one. marlloes attached the following image: [59.44Kb] Edited by marlloes on 25-02-2019 10:14 |

Sorry, took me some time. The quality does not get better from changing it to the uploading standard, but I hope it is alright. |

Tribe Chironomini. Unlikely to be Phaenopsectra. Could be Chironomus. |
