A striking "Leptogaster" (s.l.) sp. female. (Really need more details of head, body & wing venation to be positive of genus!)

Colorful legs will help associate sexes, as must see male for further ID.

Cheers, Eric

Psilonyx sp. male. Thanks Ricardo; image #3 is perfect. Neotropical spp. of Psilonyx (most of genus!) need revision before full identification possible. Banding pattern of legs indicates male & female likely conspecific.

Cheers, Eric

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
