Hi forum,
is this Trupanea amoena? Found on a meadow in Vienna near Wienerwald in late April

All requests are from the urban area of Vienna, if not otherwise stated.

My Diptera observations (and other living forms) can be found here, and corrections or comments over there would also be appreciated.

No, the black Y-mark at the wing tips is typical for several Tephritis species but not seen in Trupanea (compare http://www.reposi...ent/159713). This is a case for Valery!
I shall post another fly that I think is a Trupanea.
Regards, Sundew

Thanks a lot! Going through the gallery, the closest I could find was T. carmen. Hopefully Val will chime in

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
