Hello,
Northern Germany, Hamburg-Rissen, Wittenbergener Ufer, walking path along the river Elbe, at a flower of Solidago sp., 15th of August 2018, (Photos: kuv). Is my idea ok? Please help to get the ID.

Hello,

what lead you to minor (and not the now abundant G. maculata)? (I'm really interested, because I don't know how to distinguish them and am not sure, whether I can exclude G. minor here in northwest Germany.)

Hi Jürgen,
today I read the thread https://diptera.info/forum/viewthread.php?thread_id=87790&pid=365076#post_365076. There is fixed that Nikita said G. minor is a synonym of G.maculata. So "my" fly should be G. maculata?
Greetings Kuv

Well, the discussion continues (see https://diptera.i...ost_365076).
Your last picture shows clearly that there is no ad seta on the mid tibia, so G. maculata would be the better choice.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
