Hello Andrzej & RamiP,

Maybe, but maybe it could also be M. latipennis. The scutum is very dark for M. bipunctatus. Yet the dark scutum is given as a diagnostic feature in the original description of M. latipennis. To be sure, a specimen would need to be examined...

Regards,

Ectemnius

Hi Elias

Lightningcircumstaces were very bad, and I'm not sure if colors corresponds the reality.
But if it is M. latipennis, it is new in Finland.
Here are still one other picture.

Maybe Elias is right.
Today I got new picture from M. bipunctatus and the scutum is really light.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
