Berlin - June 2017 I remember seeing this near a young Agelena labyrinthica in its web. I stopped photographing the spider to grab a few shots. I thought maybe it was just an egg sac of something but it looks like it could be a pupa. Any ideas? Thank you for your time. johnes81 attached the following image: [61.7Kb] John and Nini. No guarantees but...it might be a pupa stage Coccinellidae. Go to Waarneming.nl, type Subcoccinella vigintiquatuorpunctata in the search function and when you get to the species page, choose Pop (Dutch version) or Pupa for Kleed/Appearance. It looks good but you should ask a specialist in Coccinellidae for confirmation. James |

Hello James, I think that you are absolutely correct because i remember that i found Subcoccinella vigintiquatuorpunctata in the same area. I never thought about ladybug pupa. Fascinating! i should've grabbed one to photograph it emerging. Thank you very much James. I appreciate your expertise John and Nini. Naturalists not experts. |
