Hi, To go on with the discussion recently started by Teddy and Juergen: It seems to me that my fly belongs to the same kinship but might not be Nemorilla floralis. Its scutellum is brownish, and the marginal wing venation is also different. The photos were taken in the Spaeth-Arboretum, Berlin, on 17 July, 2007. These Tachinidae are surprisingly rich in species, once one looks at them a little closer... I had not expected so many parasites present in our insect fauna and wonder what they prey for in the city. . Hopefully, they are not too much involved in the noticeable decline of butterflies in Berlin. Many thanks, Theo. Sundew |
