Hello,

Pierre Duhem : France : Ruffieux : 73310 : 10/05/2018
Altitude : 237 m - Taille : 7-8 mm
Réf. : 207031

For me, its looks like the Hercostomus identified in a former post : https://diptera.i...ad_id=7814.
But I'm not sure at all.
Thanks in advance for any comments.

The single image will not get you much further than that Hercostomus, I think. Perhaps a true specialist like Igor can say more.

Sorry, no idea. Either Hercostomus or Gymnopternus. 7-8 mm suggest also Tachytrechus.

Igor,

Thanks. We'll see whether we can get better pictures, showing better the essential elements.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
