Berlin - May 2018 I am struggling to find a genus for this one. The bend of the median vein is absent. I have the specimen but i am only seeking a genus. Thank you for your time. edit: I have the specimen and i will add supporting photos at a later time. johnes81 attached the following image: [52.28Kb] Edited by johnes81 on 26-05-2018 19:55 John and Nini. from what i can see: eyes are bare, arista look bare, prosternum isn't obviously hairy, palpi are orange. I see white hairs at the bottom of the head. I still cannot reach a genus. Very odd Tachinid. just for the record: i found it in the stairwell of my apartment building in the very big city of Berlin. I find it strange. John and Nini. Naturalists not experts. |

Heelo Henrik, Thank you for looking at this post. You are excellent with Tachinidae, so i am happy that you agree with the species. I was getting a bit frustrated with this one. I wasn't keying it correctly. I checked my notes about Tachinidae and i found the following entry in my notes: "Ocytata pallipes: Apical crossvein is usually missing". I checked the keys and compared photos and it looks like a match. I doff my hat to you, Henrik. Thank you very much John and Nini. Naturalists not experts. |

Henrik, i will post microscopic photos after i examine the specimen. I may need some time before i examine it. Maybe next week. I will also add some photos to the gallery to help us find it faster next time.
