Tabanidae sp. observed at 2018-01-05 Colombia – Atlántico
Alt. > 500m
In flight it is able to hover like a Syrphidae.
Any suggestions regarding genus?

Thanks and regards,

The proboscis suggests Pangoniinae. Esenbeckia?

Very nice picture, but difficult to identify, if you are not an expert in the Neotropical Tabanidae. There are many Pangoniinae genera in Colimbia, but it is clearly not Scionini, so something like Esenbeckia sounds possibly right.
