This is a quite small bee, about 10mm long. Some have the lower part of the abdomen white, other have it yellow (do they carry the pollen there?). Seen in Lisboa, Portugal, September.

Thanks, Isidro and Rui. Any idea about the reason for the different colouring of the abdomen (I'm adding an image with the other one)? Maybe they are different species.

Hello,

I think this is because the brush is not yet loaden with pollen on the second picture.

I can confirme a Megachile female, near rotundata. Species recognition in this subgroup is not possible for the moment, and even very difficult with a real specimen.

regards, Christian

I can no longer send private messages (and maybe not receive?), even though my inbox and outbox are not yet full. I write, click "send" and they disappear and never show up in the outbox.
