I found these Mycetophila on snow in northern Sweden, a few yesterday and today (Dec 14-15). Two of the males are really confusing with stylomeres resembling perpallida but with 6(-8?) setae on proepisternum and 7 on mesepimeron (I'm using Chandler 1993). Is it possible for perpallida to look like this or is it something else?

I bought this post to the attention of Peter Chandler, his reply was: This is M. fungorum, the distinction being in the more central position of the two strong spines on the ventral lobe of the gonostylus. |
