N. flavipalpis has peculiar dark spots on the tergites. This is N. pratensis or N. croceiventris subsp. lindneri (I hope there aren't still more similar species in the Ukraine). To discriminate between them, we need a frontal view of the head (in N. pratesis the area below the antennae between eye and rostrum is yellow, in the other species black). Also the pattern of tergites differs, which is hardly recognizable in the pictures.
If you could read Dutch, you would enjoy the key by Peeters & Oosterbroek (http://ccw.natura..._2013d.pdf). It is recommendable in any case, because the excellent illustrations explain a lot.
Regards, Sundew

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
