Hello,

Still in Savoy (France), 2007/7/15, 1750 m above sea, size about 12 mm. Tachina seems me OK. But not T. fera, since the black stripe is interrupted.

Which one, in this case?

Thanks in advance.

alas, Tachina it's not, but the related Nowickia.

Some special species, it seems.

Theo,

Thanks for Nowickia.

Any idea about this "special species" Smile?

might be something like strobeli or rondanii
(guess after that we'd run out famous dipterists)

the abdominal pattern does not resemble ferox or atripalpis (most common species)

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
