Can anyone identify this spectacular, large and orange asilidae exactly?

Date: 28.07.2007
Area: very dry and warm habitus (sandy area - heathland)

Dunno, but they look quite similar to mine (see below the message "Pair of large asilids" ) One obvious differnce is the color of the legs.
Haven't received a reply yet, though (hint, hint! Wink )

Philippe, let us wait for an answerWink. I think your foto shows robberflies of the same family (stenopogon), but not the same species.

It's a pair of a Stenopogon species, but unfortunately a revision for these big animals is lacking - who is interested?
