Thank you very much, Toni. Grin
If you wish, I can try to get some photos of some significant detail. Or, send the copy. I have it in 75% alcohol .. Smile

Kind regards,
José Marín.

I think it is tribe Chironomini -- dorsal eye extension, angled r-m, R5 ending near wingtip. The hairy wing veins might provide a clue to ID. Otherwise, the tiny spines and spurs at the tip of the mid and hind tibiae can be used to identify some females, but I have no experience doing that.

I agree with John - it does appear to be Chironomini. A warning for me to look more carefully before responding!

John Carr, Tony Irwin.
Thanks to both for your comments and help.
Although these small mosquitoes are very frequent in my area, it seems definitive that it is impossible to try to go beyond what is indicated.
Best regards from southern Spain.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
