Hello, dear experts,

these photos are from June 17, taken on reed near the Goitzsche Lake near Bitterfeld, Germany.
Could it be Anasimyia contracta?

Thank you for a reply!

To me, your ID sounds good! The abdomen shows the 'hockey-stick'-shaped markings, and on the mesonotum the two pale stripes are joined across the middle, as described in the key by Speight (1981) (see https://www.jstor...b_contents). A similar species, A. transfuga, lacks the 'wasp-waisted' abdomen that is typical for A. contracta, caused by the distinctly concave side margins of tergite 2. In the lower picture of your female one can see this shape of tergite 2, which is also narrower than long. So A. contracta should be OK.
Regards, Sundew

Dear Sundew,

thank you very, very much indeed! Your reply wasn't expected in such a short time.
Yes, I agree with your description according to the key, that I didn't know before.

With a happy smile,

Hans
