Hi again,

This pretty thing looks a lot like Trichopoda pennipes, only the abdomen on Trichopoda pennipes is reddish and this one's got a nearly black abdomen. What else could it be? Can't find any species in this area that resembles 'mine'.

Thanks,

Andr?

Hello Andre,
This is indeed T. pennipes. there is no other option anyway, because it is the only European species in this genus. Furthermore, it originates from the Americas, and it landed in Europe (Italy) somewhere in the sixties or seventies.
I have seen and caught several myself in Southern Europe, and the color of the abdomen varies from orange to black!
Greetings,
