I guess this is some species of Phasia, but I doubted when looking at the photographs of hemiptera. It has a black scutellum, is extensively yellowish at the thorax, and has whitish at the tip of the abdomen. Could still be hemiptera if that species is extremely variable, but probably it hemiptera has its cousins?! Switzerland, Tessin, near Mavaglia, at apporx 1500 m altitude. Alpine meadows, just to be mowed. At Carrots near small road. End of july. This second photograph shows the curious wing posture the fly often took, as well as the flattened abdomen. Which species can it be? Cor Zonneveld attached the following image: [105.02Kb] Edited by Cor Zonneveld on 02-08-2007 21:03 Thanks for your attention Cor Zonneveld |

Definitely not Phasia (no petiole on vein-m & wing pattern wrong) - it is an Ectophasia and possibly crassipennis. |
