Found it yesterday, 14.08.2016, S.-Germany, Black Forest at about 1000m. Obviously it is not V. bombylans ... Are there any ideas about the genus or species of this animal? Thank you.

Gerard - I've browsed through many images of bumblebee mimics but have ommited Eriozona syrphoides.

Tried to attach an image to a forum post. jpg, 32kB, 72dpi, no blanks, ... File name is correctly displayed, but when I click "Preview Thread" it just vanishes. Help!
