Last Sunday at Laguna de La Playa, Monegros region, Aragon, Spain.
Habitat: salt soil and Salicornia, in the board of the salty marsh, with some Salsola vermiculata, Lygeum spartum and others.
Size: maybe 3 cm.
In the list of wildlife of Monegros region are not cited any Pompilidae, but this fact don't mean anything.
This exemplar couldn't fly, it run in the soil and never be quiet.
I have another (very bad) picture where is seen that the head have yellow spots.
Anyone knows it?

It's the a female Pompilidae of Cryptocheilus octomaculatus, a widespread and common species in the mediterranean area. Of course it can fly, but Pompilids often run on the ground and fly on in case of danger (if a collector comes with a net :-)

Regards, Christian

P.S. May I also use this photo? The species still lacks on www.galerie.hymis.eu

GrinGrin OOOOH MANY THAAAANKS!!!!! GrinGrin

Species level! I saw in the same fregion some "typical" Cryptocheilus but I couldn't take a photo.

This exemplar couldn't f?y, for sure. When it was disturbed, it run to another site. I saw more exemplars of the same species and they can fly and I couldn't take photos because it was very quick.

You can use all my pictures always.

Thanks again!

I can no longer send private messages (and maybe not receive?), even though my inbox and outbox are not yet full. I write, click "send" and they disappear and never show up in the outbox.
