Tony Irwin on August 16 2006 - 13:06:09 this text can be found in the gallery about determination of Chloromyia formosa & C. speciosaThis seems to have rather yellow hind tarsi, which makes it more likely to be Chloromyia speciosa. The wings also appear to be quite darkened which would fit with this ID. aleix on August 16 2006 - 13:09:37 Tanks very much! I must admit my ignorance, I posted this photo in the forum last year and was told about formosa. I'll send a message to the administrator to correct the id. Paul Beuk on August 16 2006 - 13:39:40 Actually, I checked my key at the time (it was my identification) and that gave the colour of the mid and hind metatarsus for formosa as brownish and for speciosa as 'conspicuously yellowish'. I would call this brownish. Wing colour can be a bit tricky with some backgrounds. Yet a third character, the colour of the hairs above the antennae (black), speaks in favour of C. speciosa. Good catch, Tony. |
