Hi,

is someone here able to decide which species it is? D. rufipes or D. linearis? I know, it's not the best angle...and that of course is the reason for my helplessness...

Thanks in advance,
Lennart

It is not D. rufipes for there is too much dusting on the mesonotum. At the same time this dusting is not as remarkable as it usually is in linearis. I can't exclude hyalipennis based on this picture. Do you have a lateral picture too?
Greetings,

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
