I photographed this small crab spider c 8mm body on Wild marjoram in early September in Wiltshire UK. Xysticus for sure, but not one I've seen before. It matches X acerbus best from images I can find, although that species is quite rarely recorded in the UK, just once from this county and seems to more usually be a ground living species. It's a difficult genus to ID from photos alone, so guess Xysticus sp. is the best ID for it, but maybe an expert could be more definitive?

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
