Hey dipterists from a stream freshwater sample collected and preserved A strange pupa a little bit disymetrical in the posterior part, spindle shaped, the anterior tip very sharp 3 mm length litgh dark pattern on the skin A larva inside correctly preserved after 5 years in formaline/ethanol extracted without difficulties little head with short antennae and 2 spiracles on each side of the head     a strange button at the end of a fresher pupa last segment  spicules on the skin of the pupa  a unique pore on the top of the anterior part of the pupa    last abdominal segment  spiracles on each side of the head  thanks for the help solito de solis Edited by solito de solis on 25-11-2015 10:25 |

Cecidomyidae. As far as I can tell there are no aquatic species.

Merci Atylotus You know that as we have to collect water samples in 8 places if a place in a stream we need to move and shake aquatic plants, phragmites and bryophits we often find non-aquatic organisms from plant debris such as slugs, ladybugs, a.s.o. I have been told that they are some CECIDOMYIIDA : PORRICONDYLINAE living in such as aquatic biocoenosis... (torrential stream France SW) (http://www.limnol...63p225.pdf ) Regarding the organism found in this pupa, could we ID better ? Or we have to stop here by lack of features ? SDS MAYETIOLIA ?
