Netted this fly yesterday from fence post in an area of scrub adjacent to a freshwater gravel pit in East Sussex. Hand lens id suggests that it's S. longicornis, but I would welcome comments from the diptera.info gurus. The site is part of Rye Harbour Nature Reserve, and this species has been recorded here in the past, though in brackish pits nearer the coast where you would expect it.

Tried to attach an image to a forum post. jpg, 32kB, 72dpi, no blanks, ... File name is correctly displayed, but when I click "Preview Thread" it just vanishes. Help!
