 This one's actually a syrphid - Dasysyrphus tricinctus. The single broad yellow band is a bit off-putting! Nice portrait.

I was looking at Sericomyia lappona, not being an expert I can only go on pictures in my books!

Tried to attach an image to a forum post. jpg, 32kB, 72dpi, no blanks, ... File name is correctly displayed, but when I click "Preview Thread" it just vanishes. Help!
