Dear all,
Need an ID for this fly larva (up to Family would be great!). Found this larva in the grave soil.
Thanks.

Some Micropezidae have posterior spiracular plates with the pointed "horns" in your picture, but I have difficulty suggesting a genus (I'm not even sure of the family).Frown

A good suggestion. Illustrations of the spiracles of Mimigralla in Ferrar match reasonably but the head capsule is not illustrated. Apparently the larvae live in rotten rhizomes (among others of ginger) and have been mistaken as pest species.

I can no longer send private messages (and maybe not receive?), even though my inbox and outbox are not yet full. I write, click "send" and they disappear and never show up in the outbox.
