This one has a remarkable horseshoe pattern on its abdomen, but I haven't been able to find images on the internet of similar looking species.
Location: Lacanja village, Lancandon NP, Chiapas, Mexico (near the border with Guatemala).
Dec. 2014
Thanks in advance,
David

Another Toxomerus, I think, possibly the male to go with the female in the other shot. Look for the notch in the back of the eye. Toxomerus is the most common genus with a notch.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
