In an aquatic sample of a brook in the south-eastern part of the Netherlands (10.vi.2014) we have found this single pupa of unknown family. It is Diptera for sure, but no idea about the family. I do not think it is aquatic, but merely a coincidental catch from a terrestrial habitat (bank of the brook). The anterior spiracles has 2 lobes on common stalks and are positioned next to each other and are directed downwards. The posterior spiracles are long, slender and dark tubes positioned on the dorsal side of the last segment. The cephalopharygneal skeleton is slender, shaped like a cross-bow.
Family is o.k., more is better.
Thanks in advance

I can no longer send private messages (and maybe not receive?), even though my inbox and outbox are not yet full. I write, click "send" and they disappear and never show up in the outbox.
