The wing is smoky, that does not fit johannis. Moreover, the spur of tibia 1 seems elongated. If so, it is the female of leucopterus. Theo |

Bibio leucopterus females have dark legs, so a different species, but not sure whether there are other species in mainland Europe. Ian |

Yes, I realized that as well ! mSo the spur just looks elongated, hence I used ‘seems’. I don’t think this is johannis, due to the darkened wing (unless that is a trick of the light as well). And I don’t want to start a guessing game on other options. Theo |
