Hello,

I think it's a Morellia genus:

the vein M bent forward towards R4+5, then I see 2+4 dc and the preapical set of setulae on mid femur.

Could it be Morellia podagrica ♂?

Thanks for the help!

Regards,
Marcello

PS: if it could be helpful I have a lateral view too

My first impression is Pyrellia. Males of Morellia podagrica have modified tip of mid femur and base of mid tibia.

Thank you very much Stephane!

Just a thing, Eudasyphora genus have 3+4 dc setae, is it correct?
Because I see only 2+4 dc setae.

I have never heard this. Whatever, it has a strong ventral (pv) on t2, which excludes the genus Morellia (and Morellia is never so deep blue).
Stephane.

You learn me something ! I just checked my Eudasyphora out of curiosity, and indeed, there is an additional prst dc just in front the first strong one, though thiner and shorter. It cannot be visible in your picture as it is in the black area.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
