As I am not used to identify hoverflies, I would be glad to get to know your identification of the hoverfly in the attached picture.

Black marking in the yellow band on tergite 4 leads me to suspect Episyrphus balteatus...

Yes, it is a male Episyrphus balteatus...

Tried to attach an image to a forum post. jpg, 32kB, 72dpi, no blanks, ... File name is correctly displayed, but when I click "Preview Thread" it just vanishes. Help!
