Dear Diptera Experts, We have found these larvae in the soil of a forest nursery in Northern Germany mid of December 2014. The larvae are about 20 mm. Since in some places, the Abies liners have heavily damaged roots, I wonder if these larvae could be responsible? Does anyone know what they are? Thank you for your help! Looks like Asilidae to me. Smith (1989) gives a key for the tribes http://www.royens...inText.pdf and http://www.royens...sIndex.pdf |

Thank you Atylotus, also for the links to the pdf files. With the help of the key, i tried to figure out at least the subfamily, but am not sure. |
