Hi i am not very familiar with Psocoptera, perhaps there is someone out there who can help me! Collected from England in August. I've been through the online key on the National Barklice Recording Scheme's website but have got stuck.

What's really annoying me is the forked vein M3 which none of the others seem to have. Is this a natural variation?

This appears to be Trichopsocus clarus, with aberrant M3 veins. The basal fork is unusual, but aberrant venation in Psocoptera is something that does crop up fairly frequently. I am sure that Keith Alexander will be pleased to have this record for the recording scheme - T. clarus is seldom taken out-of-doors.

Thanks, interesting. It was collected from a light trap suspended 5m high on a woodland edge. I've only collected maybe 15 in total from this project but will submit all records. I think they're fascinating.. so unusual looking!
