Italy, Apennines near Lucca, 370 msl, 1st August.
Valley slope, open woodland.
Acroceridae, Astomella hispaniae (is A hispaniae the only european species?)
Two specimens retrieved from a swimming pool filter! Its interesting to see on a different thread by Rui Andrade another specimen collected from a water trap -

Is my specimen female and the specimen shown here the male?

Hi Steve,

Yours is a male. The female's abdomen is much more ovate an not parallel sided.

Should be an exceptionally dark female. They are normally more yellowish.
