Photographed in my garden (Suffolk, TM166450) on 15 Sept 2014 at about 17:30 on a Plumbago (Ceratostigma) flower. No specimen taken. I think it may be an Anthomyiid. Please help.

Regards,
Martin

Paregle audacula? Projecting chin with bristles, v or av on t2, hairy notopleuron.

That is a very interesting suggestion, John. I collected one of those in the same place in July! See www.diptera.info/...d_id=63419.

Indeed, it is again Paregle audacula.

Thanks Johanna. How nice to have these photos of a live one. I know we usually need the specimen to be sure of an ID, but these beautiful creatures are so much nicer when they are alive and active amongst the flowers!

Best wishes,
Martin

I can no longer send private messages (and maybe not receive?), even though my inbox and outbox are not yet full. I write, click "send" and they disappear and never show up in the outbox.
